Did you know that the Red and Yellow Bouquet was based off of my own wedding flowers? Read More Below...
I'm not really a dried flower person (Unless, of course, the flowers are billy buttons and then I am all for them), but I am a very sentimental person and I love to document and hold onto keepsakes to remember special days. I tried to be a dried flower person after my wedding. All of our flowers were delivered to our house after our wedding while we were off honeymooning in Kansas City. When I got home I carefully sorted through each bouquet and centerpiece gathering my favorite flowers and displayed them all over my house. One by one though I got rid of them only keeping a few behind in boxes as mementos of our wedding day. Even though I didn't enjoy displaying flowers around our house, I still wanted a way to document our wedding flowers, and so the broken bouquet dream begun!
I initially started out painting other bouquets, before I finally worked up the guts to do my own bridal bouquet. My goal was to capture the feel of the bouquet without trying to perfectly draw the arrangement and each flower. I first figured out which parts of the bouquet were my favorites. I loved the succulents, billy buttons, and the red lilies, and even though they weren't in mine I envied the pink roses in my bridesmaids bouquets, so I added those in too! I then rearranged them to make a new balanced composition and painted it with watercolors!
I've done a few other bridal flowers since doing my own and I am about to start accepting custom orders! Stay tuned!
