While holding little Emmet is a dream come true and I treasure each little baby snuggle, we have started to let Emmet be slightly more independent in this second month. Both for our sanity and so that one day he will be able to fall asleep on his own with out being snuggled up with his mom (though I will cry for hours the first time that happens!). Our second month essentials are in addition to the things that we used the first few weeks, but we are adding a few things that have allowed us to get out of the house, as well as to get things done in our house too, while Emmet sleeps.
My current favorite thing that we own is our wrap that my sweet friends got us from amazon. I love that it can be tied in so many different ways as Emmet grows, its comfortable for him to be in and it looks good with my outfits! I've worn it around the house so that I can get laundry folded or food cooked, I've worn it around the neighborhood for short walks,I've worn it to a wedding where he slept happily in it the whole ceremony, and most recently I wore it out to our favorite pasture in the prairie. I like that he is so snuggled and secure in it, it comforts me in knowing that if for some awful reason I tripped on some limestone or slipped on a cow pie I would have two arms to catch us and he would still be safe and sound!
Second Month Essentials:
-A Stroller-Dave's parents were kind enough to get us an amazing stroller that has been the biggest blessing! For about a month now Emmet and I have been going on daily morning walks with it and I would purchase it again and again even if it hadn't been gifted too us. Of course we dreamed of getting the bugaboo strollers but I'm not sure who can justify spending that much on a stroller, as for us it would require paying in installments! We did find it important to get a nice, well made stroller that would last us a long time which we found in our Nuna Mixx Stroller from Nordstrom. We liked that it was so versatile and that we could even pop our carseat into it too!
-Carriers-We have two different kinds of carriers; our Baby Bjorn and a wrap that we received from our Amazon Registry, though I adore Solly Baby Wraps! We use the wrap more often than the carrier because it works great around the house and neighborhood and I LOVE that it can be tied many different ways as he grows! We leave the baby bjorn in the car for traveling and for quick carrying around town.
-Rockaroo-My mom bought us this amazing 4moms rockaRoo infant swing and for the first month we were so worried we wouldn't ever use it! Not because we didn't want to, but because we though it might not actually be what Emmet wanted/needed to be soothed. These past few weeks though we have used it a bunch! Emmet takes naps in there, long ones even, while we are still working on getting him used to his crib. Lately he even lays in there awake, happy as can be, giggling at the mobile hanging above it.
-Nest Camera-Dave and I splurged on this one, and I'm glad we did! It allows me to have more peace of mind when I lay Emmet down for a nap in his crib. I can see his little face on my phone as well as hear his sounds!
***Our last set off essentials mentioned medela breast pads... I am replacing them with these! A friend of mine bought me breast pads from Love My and they are SO MUCH BETTER
