I think even last Halloween I started planning Emmet's costume for this year. Last year he was Max from Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendack and it was absolutely precious. Our friend gave us the little wolf suit sweater onesie and we found a crown and it was PERFECT for the age he was. I knew thought that one day Emmet needed to be a little old man, and the little old man from Up is even better!
So we gathered up out outfit and watched the movie a few times through and dressed Emmet up! He absolutely hated having the hair spray put in, but LOVED almost everything else! He took off, and put on his glasses all by himself probably a thousand times. He walked around in his walker just like we showed him how. He smacked all of the balloons and laughed hysterically (and somehow managed to only pop one!). AND the even funnier part was that he couldn't get out of his walker without help so the whole time we were taking pictures he was saying "Up!!" It was pretty cute.
I'm not sure how I got decent photos of this outfit, let alone how I got 30 of them and then had to narrow down for one post! Juggling one toddler, eight balloons, a pair of glasses, AND a walker was no easy task! Luckily I had Meredith around to help re-put on the glasses, untangle the balloons, re-get the toddler in place, keep the toddler from running in the street, AND carry it all over to the place we were taking pictures. She is amazing! This photoshoot also reminds me how much I love living in our small town. It all came together with the help and generosity of others! Not only did we have the amazing help of Meredith, My friend (and local mama-Emmet's "Lolly") surprised us by making this walker for Emmet after I had said I didn't think I would get it done in time (and she got it done overnight!!). AND our neighbor (who I only kind of know!) let us take pictures in front of their house because it resembled the house from UP.
We can't wait to go out trick or treating!
