Before getting pregnant I'd often hear things, nightmares really, about the struggles of pregnancy. As a young naive pup I assumed that I would defy the odds, surely people are crazy and pregnancy is actually a breeze, right? Everyone else is a wuss? Wrong. Now, it really isn't that bad, but even if you are the most cool and collected person in the world you will still find yourself weeping in your car on the way to work in the morning with no real reason behind it. You will still have back pain and rage issues and heartburn, but you will get through it.
In the grand scheme of things, despite the hard parts, pregnancy is actually really amazing. You get used to everyone staring at your belly instead of your face, you get used to the comments (Are you sure you are not having twins?), and you get used to the negative symptoms. You get used to these parts and you just enjoy getting to feel your little one wiggle around inside your belly. You will enjoy a solid excuse for your crazy mood swings or for a nap or for an extra scoop of ice cream. You enjoy it while it lasts; pop another tums, put a rice bag on your back, and kick your feet up, because it will only last 9 months and when you think about it, you are actually doing something really amazing! You grew a human today, good for you!
Or at least, that is how I'm choosing to get through these next few weeks.
