I can officially say that we are home now that we have finally unpacked all of our bags from the holidays (I'm ignoring Dave's last bag that is sitting in front of me). I never feel quite settled in at home until every item that was packed is back in its spot in the house. It's amazing how much stuff we need (or felt like we needed) for 5 days out of town for 2 adults, one baby, and one dog. Our car was filled to the brim with bags, a kennel, and Christmas presents both ways. We don't have very many pictures to show for our trip, but I like to think that sometimes that is okay! We were to busy resting and relaxing and enjoying some family time to take many photos.
We spent two days in Manhattan with my parents and their dogs. Niether of my siblings were home this year, which was a little bit sad, but spending time with my parents was really nice too! I always love going home because it is so relaxing. Dave and I get made fun of for having "a spot" on my parents couch that we always sit in when we are there. It is so nice though to just park yourself on the chaise lounge and stay there for a few days, not doing or worrying about anything at all. My parents showered Emmet, Dave and I, and even Moose in gifts this year, including some adorable little chucks for Emmet that I just cannot get over! We ate meals together and mostly just sat around enjoying each other's company.
Dave's family has met out at Clover Cliff Ranch Bed and Breakfast for two years now, which has been such a fun tradition to start! We drive out and stay in one of the smaller houses so that no one has to worry about hosting and it fits the family just perfectly. My favorite part this year was that the weather was actually nice enough for us to go on a hike on the beautiful hills that the ranch sits on. Over the past year they put a disc golf course around the land, so we trekked across creeks and hiked over limestone to find every basket. We stayed out in that house for two nights and enjoyed Christmas traditions and wonderful breakfasts together.
Our holidays were so great, and even with Emmet having a cold he did a really great job traveling around with a weird schedule. We had such a great time, but oh, is it good to be home.
