Spring break has been so wonderful and couldn't have come at a better time! I've been cleaning, napping, and organizing everything all in preparation for the day this little man comes! I can't say for sure that I will feel rested (because I just rested for a week- and it isn't showing!) but I can say confidently that we will be ready for him! I cleaned every nook and cranny I could find and we finally have every thing that we need (and then some) to take care of this little guy.
The nursery is one of my very favorite rooms in our little house. It is the smallest room by far (other than the bathroom..) and it serves a dual purpose- it is both the office and the baby's room. It has been so fun putting it together!
Most of the furniture in the room is from IKEA. I love the look and feel of all of their products and I especially love their prices! It didn't feel like we spent our entire life savings in order to get this room ready! Our main goal with the furniture was to find things that were both practical and provided optimal storage space for all of little man's things.
This storage dresser holds most of our office, and my crafting, supplies. It was the perfect way to hide it all but still keep it accessible in the room! I found the chalkboard at our local thrift store for only two dollars, it felt like such a steal! I have since repainted it and written our potential name on it (still a secret). It will one day be home to his little drawings and paintings from his Aunt Hannah. We are pretty excited.
Right now his crib is set up for display, he will sleep in a bassinet in our room for a few months once he arrives. Once he moves into his room we will store all blankets and stuffed animals in a basket on the other side of the room. All of the pillows in the room were made by me and that sock monkey was mine from when I was little! We thought this shelf would be the perfect way to store and display all of his cute little toys and of course it also holds the beginnings of his soon to be very large globe collection.
Our office is now the very corner of the room. The desk is really only big enough to hold all of Dave's screens (he is pretty techy...) but it does the job. We assembled it from a few items from IKEA's office section so that it would fit the decor of the room. We put a shelf up above for additional storage.
