I thought there no better way to capture this past week, than to have portraits of Emmet and his Aunty Hannah together. For the past few days my sister Hannah was in town and these two were inseparable! We were both very lucky to have her come and spend time with us on her month long trip to Kansas. She watched him while I worked and let me get a lot of lavender & clover things done, we cooked all of our meals together, we ran errands together, and went on a few walks just the three of us.
My favorite, and the most hilarious walk of all, was on the last night that she was here. It was a fairly decent night so we decided that a long walk through the wooded trails behind Bethel would be nice. We loaded Emmet up and let him run around campus on our way out. He was getting a little fussy and we didn't pack any water, but we figured if we let him run around he might be okay! We turned into the woods and put him back in the stroller, as it looked like we could be surrounded by poison ivy but neither one of us were sure if we could identify it. Halfway into the woods and about as far away from the house that we could be Emmet got so fussy that we had to get him out. We figured we'd watch him and make sure that he didn't touch any leaves at all just to be safe. We took off walking, Emmet with his toys in hand, throwing them and picking them up every few feet until he threw one right into a patch of questionably poison ivy and dipped his face right in. His FACE.
We took off running. Emmet in the stroller, pushed by Aunt Hannah, bouncing around as it rolled through thick mulch. We ran short cuts through fields of grass, our shoes soaking with water, laughing (but also pretty worried) the whole way home. Emmet got washed off right when we got in and never developed a rash, which we are very thankful for. It was a pretty hilarious way to remember Hannah's last night in town, but I'm sure I won't be running for awhile...
