It is such an interesting thing to spend so much time planning every single detail of a day in your life and then to have that day come and go with the blink of an eye. Deliberating for months and months about what will go where, who will be there, what will we eat, wear, everything! I really loved all of it and I am so glad that I have these pictures to go back and look at to treasure that day of my life that I spend so long planning.
Dave and I got married on August 3rd. We were repeatedly told how lucky we were that a Kansas day in August didn't turn out to be the hottest day ever. Instead it was the perfect day, wonderful weather with big puffy white clouds in a big blue sky over the prairie.
Our wedding was held out on the beautiful flint hills on a piece of land that is owned by Dave's family. Dave and I visited there a few years ago, and I knew that was where we were going to be married. I even made jokes then about where we would park all of our guests. We, of course, wouldn't have even been engaged at that point for another year or so. It is such a beautiful piece of land with rolling hills all around and beautiful wild flowers, lime stone, and cacti all around (and a few cow pies as well...).
Our wedding party stayed at a rustic lodge nearby called the Flying W, which is where we ate most of our meals, relaxed, and got ready the day of the wedding. Dave and I drove out there a few months before our wedding and were given a tour by an adorable 10 year old on a four wheeler. We fell in love with the rustic charm and the interesting skulls that hung all over the outside of the buildings, and of course the beautiful prairie that surrounded it on all sides. It really was the perfect place for us all to stay. The food was absolutely delicious and there was a hot tub for us to soak in.
It is crazy how quickly the whole day flew by, but the time leading up to the ceremony is what seamed to take the longest. I remember sitting in our lodge with all of the girls getting ready and just panicking about timing and everything. Luckily I had a wonderful group of girls to keep me calm and relaxed before the ceremony and they really did a gorgeous job on my hair and make up.
