After our ceremony we piled into cars and drove two miles to a nearby YMCA camp, Camp Wood. Our reception was held in their large beautiful new lodge, complete with a gorgeous view of the flint hills and tall ceilings with pretty wooden beams. David and I visited it back in February and knew immediately that it would be the perfect place. It was not only stunning, but it was also close to the land and could accommodate all of our guests. It was perfect!
Our centerpieces were made up of log slices, flint stones (from the land we were married on), homemade candles, and flowers picked freshly from the beautiful flint hills. We also gave out peppernuts as our favors in a bag that Dave designed. Our wedding party was so wonderful and helped us to get it all set up, lights and all, the morning of our wedding.
For dinner we served tacos and beer, and for dessert there was chocolate chip cookies (homemade by myself and my wonderful, wonderful sister in law) and milk. These are of course, some of Dave and I's favorite things to eat, so it seemed only fitting to serve them to all of our guests as they celebrated our new lives together.
Our wonderful friends played music for our guests as they ate and drank inside, as well as outside on the terrace. It was seriously so wonderful to have so many people I love in one room. The entire thing whirled by and it feels like it was really only a blink. I know that there were some people that I missed talking to and there are times that I wish I could go back and just hit pause, or add a few minutes on at the end. I am so happy with how everything turned out and I am so thankful for everyone who came to celebrate! It is so nice to see all of the people you love and to feel all of the support they are giving you.
