When I was in college and still living in a dorm room dreaming of my future home, I remember being confused by the idea of the home taking a back seat to your every day life. My parents waited until all three of their kids left for college before them even dreamed of revamping their space to make it theirs. The idea of living in an unfinished space seemed stressful to me and the thought of being too busy to even work on your home? Well that sounded horrible.
But it is the serious truth! As much as I dream of finishing projects around our space it just doesn't seem to happen! I dream of having a cute little home with no exposed walls, a finished backsplash, and 100% of its trim painted*** but my level of energy when I get home is generally pretty slim. We have made little changes here and there, but none of the major projects have been finished. We've added furniture and decorative details. I have rearranged things countless times.
Despite its unfinished projects, I still love our little home. It turns out that things don't have to be perfect to be wonderful. A work in progress can be just as wonderful as the finished product. Plus a finished home with no additional projects? Well that just sounds boring. Then what would you do?!?
