After Henry's shower we reserved an hour for switching our decorations and food. Which really meant that the parties continued as we did those things and no one really noticed, which was great! After that hour though more people arrived and we had lunch ready for people to eat. Mojo's catered the food again and served a full taco bar, coronas (to the adults), and cupcakes! It was all super delicious and BEAUTIFULLY presented!
I was super impressed at Emmet's party stamina. He ran around that house from 9:00-2:00 surrounded by people and playing in the hot sun. I swear every 10 minutes he was with someone else and doing something else. He swept the back patio with Patty's husband, sword fought (with sticks) with his uncle Kent and my dad, played with balloons, followed his cousins around, hid in the plants, and the list goes on and on! Every once in a while I caught him resting. He would lay down on the couch for a minute or climb into Henry's carseat and let his system reboot. He got kind of into the idea of opening gifts...didn't really open them without a lot of assistance but LOVED discovering what was inside each one! His favorites were the plush birdies from his grandmas that sing real bird songs, his binoculars, and his play kitchen and accessories! We still have yet to discover the wonders of his other gifts, I'm sure he'll love them all too! He clapped happily after we sang and took bites of the tops of everyone's (who was willing) cupcakes. and even though he was the center of attention for most of it, I'm not really sure he really noticed or cared that it was for him. He was just having a great time with the people who love him!
I have to say, I am just so amazed by the amount of love we felt over the weekend. My little boys are so lucky to have so many people who love them and care about them. The way Patty hurried to get the house done and how much time and energy she put into the catering, the way people played and loved on them while we were there, the thoughtfulness of each gift the boys received, and the way everyone even pitched in to help us get everything home! An entire fleet of cars followed us home and people helped carry everything inside! It was so amazing and super helpful so we could get our boys down for their naps as fast as possible! We are super appreciative of everyone who came and made their day so special!
