One of my favorite things about making coffee in my french press is that once my water is heated up I can finish making it from anywhere in my home! On Fridays after I am home from teaching I like to curl up with Professor in my bed or on the couch and enjoy the rest of my afternoon, so having my french press freedom is perfect!
I first measure out my coffee and grind it at a coarser grind (approximately 56 grams for an 8 cup french press). I then heat up my water to about 205 degrees, I received a lovely gooseneck kettle that I love to use at one of my bridal showers. Once your water is properly heated you can then pour it into your french press and wait! (for a really, really detailed step by step process consult the experts at Stumptown Coffee). At this point I load up my tray with whatever I would like for my coffee. In the fall I love heating up some cream or milk and using my milk frother that I got from World Market! It is the perfect way to make a warm cup of coffee and milk. I got my tray at Target (I love you Nate Berkus) but it is completely sold out! Here are some others that I love: West Elm Square Lacquer Tray, Whit and Delight White Stoneware Tray, and the Deny Designs Pineapple Tray.
Once my tray is all ready and assembled I snuggle up where ever I choose and once my coffee is ready, after about four minutes, I plunge it, pour it and enjoy my cup of coffee! It really truly is the perfect way to enjoy a cup of coffee on a cool fall day.
where do you like to enjoy your French Press coffee?
*** Warning! Leaving open fluids out on a bed with a puppy is a dangerous activity! Unless of course your dog seems as though it might be part sloth or constantly has mono like Professor, then you should be okay, as the dog moves at a much slower pace and is much less likely to knock over said coffee.
