Last week I was printing cards like a mad woman for a store order and was sending sheet after sheet to the printer from the desk in the living room to the printer in the laundry room. I printed nearly 20 sheets (around 40 cards) before realizing that my printer was running out of ink and was printing yellow lines through every. single. design. I was so angry with myself. So I fixed it, printed all of the other cards again, and fumed silently to myself for a few hours about all of the wasted sheets of paper I wasted. But then I realized how silly I was being. My art teacher self would just ask my student, "how are you going to solve this problem" instead of letting my student just sit there fuming. So I looked them through and realized that I could use them for Emmet's birthday invitations!
Even though Emmet's birthday is still months away, I already have his theme and cake design picked out. It will be woodland themed with lots of little animals in cute little party hats. The messed up fox cards that I printed were PERFECT for this theme, so I cut the cards, folded them and got out some of my leftover A Beautiful Messy Messy Box paper. To make the party hats I used my paper cutter to cut out rectangles and then did alternating diagonal cuts to cut out multiple triangles. I then glued them down on the foxes head and used a gold paint pen to draw little fluff balls on top! I then used my gold paint pen to write "You're Invited" in the white open space of every card. You could also have them specially hand lettered (Sparrow Lettering in Wichita does such beautiful work!). I love how they turned out and I can't wait to send them out to our friends and family! Because our cards are blank on the outside and have a lot of white space on the outside they could be customized to fit any occasion. Grab a set of cards to keep on hand and add paper designs, drawings, anything to them to make them work for what you need! Plus, if you aren't feeling crafty they work just fine on their own too! Find all of our cards here. Our click the shop link at the top of the page! Happy Crafting!
