These past few weeks have been a blur! A whirlwind of teaching, watching hours of gilmore girls, and squeezing in sweet snuggles with Emmet. I told Dave that it felt like we were just sitting in the doctors office for Emmet's four month appointment and all of the sudden we were there for his six month! I could stand for time to slow down a little as I'm sure many of us feel these days. I don't know what it is about this time of year but it is just speeding by! Our sweet little Emmet has grown so much these past few months! My little baby is slowly turning into a little human.
At six months...
-Emmet now weighs 16 pounds and 4 ounces. Which puts him in the 75th percentile for height and the 25th percentile for weight and I am just over here wondering where the tall and skinny genes came from?! My lean little man will someday be much taller than his mama.
-These past few months we have not only started baby food and ventured through as many different veggies and fruits as we possibly could, we even just got the green light to start table food, TABLE FOOD! My little guy is going to be eating real human food in bite form. I can barely believe it. We'll still be breastfeeding from time to time, but if you'd have told me in those first few weeks that I would have made it this far still breastfeeding I would have laughed in your face... or cried... one of the two. This does mean though that I may be able to cut out pumping, which is a huge relief... though I will miss the look on peoples faces when I tell them that I pump in our school's library closet amongst the outdated technology and extra Harry Potter books.
-Emmet is sitting up and is really good at it too! He topples over from time to time and is occasionally startled or bonks his little noggin on something, but most of the time he sits up like a little champion. He loves batting on his light up drums at day care and his ikea play gym at home. He flails his arms around this way and that so that the little plastic pieces make the optimal amount of noise. My little musician.
-A few weeks ago in the early morning, I swear, he looked right up at me and said "ma." My heart melted all over the place and I freaked out a little, which startled him I think, because he hasn't said it since... but he does babble quite a bit. He sits on the floor and just yells "BA BA BA BA BA BA BA" until one of us can't take it and we rush in to tickle that little boy. His giggles cut through the loudness and are one of my very favorite things about him.
-A list of Emmet's favorite things: Of course Moose must be listed first.. he will forever be E's number one, Daddy's humming, any time Daddy enters the room, knocking things off the high chair, watching his green ball roll away, chewing on everything... especially his toes, tickles on his face, neck, armpits, and thighs, playing peek-a-boo, and snuggling with his mama. There will never be anything quite so special as Emmet's little snuggles... I can never resist those little arms when they reach out to me.
