I think my favorite part about the holiday season is the reunion with loved ones each year. It is such a treat to be able to travel home to see my family AND see some of our friends who are visiting town as well! Dave and I are so lucky that our family is primarily based in Kansas, so even though we have a very large number of people to see we generally get to visit each and every one of them sometime during the holiday season. We wish that we could see all of our wonderful friends too, but we do what we can to be with them too!
My best friend Natalie , her husband and their three adorable kids drove up from Austin, Texas this week too. I was able to spend some quality time with them around Manhattan while we were all home! On Monday Natalie and I got coffee at Arrow Coffee Co, ate a delicious breakfast at The Chef, took the kids to City Park and Varsity Donuts for a sweet treat. On Tuesday Natalie, her husband, and her brother and I went yet again to Arrow Coffee Co and sat and chatted for a long time. It is always so great to catch up with my dear friend Natalie! I can't believe I hadn't seen her since her wedding this past June! It feels like so long ago already!
My family spent most of the rest of the time I was in Manhattan relaxing and hanging out around home. It is so nice to be able to just be a lazy bum for a few days and catch up on all of the rest and relaxation that I missed during the past semester of teaching! My mom and I did enjoy a Mother/Daughter date at Baan Thai and of course spent a good chunk of time shopping for the baby! We may have gone a little nuts on the baby shopping....but when Baby Gap has a 50% off everything sale going nuts is not just expected, but required.
