a photo of Emmet every week in 2017
In the quest to fatten this little boy up it feels like we spend a lot of time at this chair. We sit and play and eat for as long as we can. He is loving bread, pasta, and pancakes and beginning to hate any and all baby foods unless they contain banana. He'll only take a few bites before he demands to eat finger food instead. He is getting pretty good at grabbing things with his finger and thumb and we've even started practicing using a spoon!
The other night Emmet had a horrible tummy ache and couldn't fall asleep, which is rare, he usually is a little champion about falling asleep on his own. We have bed time down. But I gave him far too much cheesy lasagna for dinner and his tummy was gurgling and hurting him so our bedtime routine had exploded out the window. We tried for over an hour, moving rooms, rocking, drinking water, different positions in my arms, trying to lay on his own... before we just gave up and went and snuggled in the bed. I figured at least he could cuddle with me while he cried it out. We laid there for awhile before I decided to try propping him up on the pillow. He fussed for a little longer before his little head flopped over, his forehead falling against mine, eye to eye just staring at each other, and he giggled. He did this a few more times, no longer fussy, just letting out sleepy little giggles each time his forehead and eyes met mine. The last time he did it he held on to my cheek and stayed in that position and fell nearly instantly asleep. He slept like that for a few minutes before sleepily flopping over onto his other side, now my little spoon, and we snuggled for quite a bit longer before I transferred his sweet, sleeping little body back over to his crib. I find it crazy how taking care of a little one can go from stressful and hard to one of the sweetest moments you'll remember forever within seconds. I love this fluffy haired, messy faced little boy of mine.
