a photo of Emmet every week in 2017
This week we busted out Emmet's xylopipes for a little musical fun. At the doctor's office a few months ago Emmet's doctor mentioned that, because he is left handed, we could start doing some rhythm and music exercises to start developing his right brain. So of course I got really excited about that and talked about it a lot. David's wonderful mom then bought Emmet a little toy drum AND these amazing xylopipes and we've been playing with them a lot this week! He is getting pretty good at them and loves the way they sound. Of course four or so minutes into playing them they are all on the floor and being thrown around and played with with other toys, BUT I look at them as him being creative. So we're fine with it.
He shows his musical side in other ways too! He loves the way his different toys sound on the different floor surfaces. He throws and hits his wood blocks on the wood floors, carpets, and tile and giggles at the different sounds they make. and this morning he even started singing! Dave called them his "vocal scales". I thought they were pretty cute.
