24/52 + Emmet's first Symphony in the Flint Hills

This past weekend we took Emmet to his first ever Symphony in the flint hills! It has become one of our favorite things to do each summer. I went with Dave and his family the first year that we were dating. I had just met his parents the week before and we went out and spent the day with them out among the prairie grasses and flowers. I fell in love with the whole event, the instruments, the art, the views, and the music. We've gone on and off now for eight years, only missing the years when we had a conflict or when it just didn't work out. We didn't go last year because we didn't think it would be a good idea to take a one month old out in the heat, but at one year old Emmet did perfect! We laid out a blanket in the back of the crowd and Emmet ran around and played with his cousins and ate his goldfish for hours. It was a little hot, but holding him and singing home on the range at the end was the perfect way we could spend our weekend.
